This is a comprehensive WoW tailoring guide and how to optimize the Tailoring profession in World of Warcraft: Shadowlands. Here you will learn all there is to know about Tailoring, including ways to make gold in WoW with it. We will provide you information on how to level up the profession, which materials to use, and which recipes to prioritize over others.

Tailoring is in a great spot in Shadowlands. There are tons of useful stuff that you can craft which will sell extremely well at the Auction House. Especially if you¡¯re pairing this profession with Enchanting, you can generate enough income to buy everything you want in World of Warcraft. In all fairness, Tailoring is a very easy profession to get running successfully, so no matter if you¡¯re a new player or not, you can still generate wealth with it. So, without further ado, let¡¯s jump into the best guide on how to make gold with Tailoring in WoW Shadowlands!

Well, for starters, Tailoring provides the cloth wearers with green and blue-quality items while leveling up, but also Legendary Items at max level. Legendaries are a new element in Shadowlands and they¡¯re the most powerful pieces of gear that players can get. And with the removal of class sets in Battle for Azeroth, all Priests, Mages, and Warlocks, use the same items to craft their Legendary effect.

Needless to say, the Legendaries will never go out of demand until the end of the expansion. Every character, class, and specialization is required to get their best Legendary effect in order to compete at a decent level. Whether it¡¯s Raiding, Mythic plus, or PvP, you absolutely need a Legendary Item to deal the most amount of damage or heal your allies as best as you can.

Another thing that is crucial to mention is that Tailoring is now responsible for creating bandages. Normally, this wouldn¡¯t be a big thing when it comes to gold-making, but a few other changes made the process of selling bandages really profitable. For example, the self-healing potions created through Alchemy received an increase in their cooldown to 5 minutes. This means that you can use a healing potion 3 to 4 times per one dungeon, which is way too low. On the other hand, [Shrouded Cloth Bandage] and [Heavy Shrouded Cloth Bandage] have only a 1-minute debuff, and they heal you for a lot more!

But, Legendary Items and bandages aren¡¯t the only ways of making some serious gold with Tailoring in Shadowlands. The last thing we want you to consider is, of course, selling bags. [Shrouded Cloth Bag] and [Lightless Silk Pouch] are very valuable items, especially the latter one.

To start with Tailoring in WoW Shadowlands, the first thing you¡¯ll need to do is head over to Oribos. As with all other professions, the Tailoring trainer is located in the Hall of Shapes part of the city, in the fourth square on the map, counting from the left. His name is Sticher Au¡¯phes and his exact spot is 45.5, 31.8 if you¡¯re using addons.

So, you¡¯ll need to talk to Sticher Au¡¯phes and learn from him [Shadwolands Tailoring]. He will also provide you with the necessary Tailoring effect that doubles the amount of cloth you loot from mobs. This is an essential part of leveling up and farming gold with Tailoring in Shadowlands because you¡¯ll get so many more materials to work with.

And the last thing to do is to remember the NPC next to the Tailoring trainer, Distributor Au¡¯tem. This is the name of the Leatherworking & Tailoring Vendor in Oribos. He can supply you with a few important reagents, namely [Penumbra Thread] and [Orboreal Shard]. Our advice for you is to get at least a stack of Penumbra Thread right away, while Orboreal Shard can wait until later on.

The Best Classes for Making Gold with Tailoring in Shadowlands

As with our complete guide to choosing a class for gold-making in World of Warcraft: Shadowlands, we want to give you some things to consider when making this decision.

Firstly, it is widely accepted that cloth wearers are naturally the best-suited classes for Tailoring. This is mainly because they can equip the crafted items as they level up. And in the past, there were some interesting Tailoring-only enchants and buffs that they could benefit from. However, if your intention is to only make gold with Tailoring in Shadowlands, then you can pick it up in any class!

The one problem with the gear-crafting professions in this WoW expansion is that the crafted pieces aren¡¯t strong at all! They¡¯re good for getting your Alts going, but even Heroic-difficulty dungeons surpass them. The highest item level that you can craft is 165, not counting the Legendary Items. So, even if you aren¡¯t a Mage, Warlock, or a Priest, you can still run this business successfully on any class or spec you¡¯re maining.

Tailoring Materials

The materials required for Tailoring in Shadowlands are by far the simplest of all professions. First off, you¡¯ll never have to worry about farming spots and locations, like mining or skinning. Instead, the cloth will drop from every mob you¡¯ll ever face. And secondly, you¡¯ll gather your materials ten times faster than any other profession, thanks to the buff that doubles your cloth loot which we mentioned earlier.

Next, the materials that don¡¯t drop from the open world can easily be bought from a vendor. Only one of them is a bit controversial since it costs 125 gold, but it is needed for crafting Legendaries. So, you¡¯ll make a good return on your money in no time.

Here are the Tailoring materials in Shadowlands:

Shrouded Cloth ¨C Gathered from all mobs around the world.
Lightless Silk ¨C Gathered from powerful enemies across Shadowlands.
Enchanted Lightless Silk ¨C Crafted from Enchanting.
Penumbra Thread ¨C Purchased from the Tailoring vendor in Oribos.
Orboreal Shard ¨C Purchased from the Tailoring vendor in Oribos.

Guide to Farming Shadowlands Tailoring Materials

As you can see, when it comes to gathering materials for Tailoring, you have nothing exceptional to do. You can rely on your regular gameplay to generate enough cloth to level up the profession. However, there are a couple of things that you can do to speed up your Tailoring farming in Shadowlands.

Dungeons and Quests

The first thing is to run dungeons. These can be very quick Normal or Heroic-difficulty runs that can be done in 10-15 minutes. If your character is decently geared (at least around 190-200 ilvl), you can blast through many dungeons in a day and generate enough materials to get the profession going. The trash mobs in the dungeons drop Shrouded Cloth and a bit of Lightless Silk, while the boss enemies only Lightless Silk.

However, these two types of cloth can also be gathered from regular mobs killed during questing or similar activities. Also, there are four available World Quests scattered throughout the four zones of the Shadowlands: Bastion, Revendreth, Ardenweald, and Maldrxxus. These quests cycle in periods and we advise you to always complete them. They reward you with +1 Tailoring skill and 10 x Shrouded Shrouded cloth. So, they¡¯re a free and easy way of getting this material!

The 4 Tailoring World Quests:

Bastion: Tailoring: Woven Gossamer Tunic
Maldraxxus: Tailoring: Haunting Hood
Ardenweald: Tailoring: Cloak of Camouflage
Revendreth: Tailoring: Looming Tapestry

Auction House

The fastest way of stocking on Tailoring regents, though, is the Auction House. Not all players want to spend their time farming materials in the world. So if you¡¯re one of them, then the AH is there for you. Of course, the cloth stocks won¡¯t be that cheap, but they won¡¯t be too expensive either. Every character, regardless of class or profession, is able to gather cloth, so most of them end up selling at the Auction House. If you¡¯re interested in leveling up your Tailoring skill this way, we will provide you with the exact numbers for each material you¡¯re going to need.

From the Auction House, you can also purchase Enchanted Lightless Silk. We strongly advise you to pick up Enchanting along with Tailoring, since you¡¯ll also cut down the expenses for this material. Otherwise, it can be pretty pricy to continually buy it from the AH.

Guide to Leveling Up Shadowlands Tailoring

In Shadowlands, you primarily have two crafting sets with Tailoring. The first is Shrouded, and its items start from 99 ilvl to 125. And the second is Shadowlace, which is 151-165 ilvl. However, every item requires a certain combination of Shrouded Cloth, Lightless Silk, and Penumbra Thread.

To level up your Shadowlands Tailoring all the way from 1 to 100, you¡¯re going to need approximately:

Shrouded Cloth = 510
Lightless Silk = 80
Penumbra Thread = 150

Follow this path to optimize your Tailoring leveling in Shadowlands:

1-15: Create 17 x [Shrouded Cloth Bandage] with 17 Shrouded Cloth.
15-31: Create 8 x [Shrouded Cloth Cape] with 32 Shrouded Cloth and 8 x Penumbra Thread.
31-37: Create 2 x [Shrouded Cloth Hood] with 12 x Shrouded Cloth and 2 x Penumbra Thread.
37-40: Create 1 x [Shrouded Cloth Spaulders] with 6 x Shrouded Cloth and 2 x Penumbra Thread.
40-65: Create 30 x [Heavy Shrouded Cloth Bandage] with 60 x Shrouded Cloth.
65-71: Create 3 x [Shadowlace Cord] with 60 x Shrouded Cloth, 12 x Lightless Silk, and 9 x Penumbra Thread.
71-75: Create 4 x [Shadowlace Handwraps] with 80 x Shrouded Cloth, 16 x Lightless Silk, and 24 x Penumbra Thread.
75-87: Create 4 x [Shadowlace Cowl] with 100 x Shrouded Cloth, 20 x Lightless Silk, and 24 x Pneumbra Thread.
87-90: Create 1 x [Shadowlace Tunic] with 30 x Shrouded Cloth, 6 x Lightless Silk, and 10 x Penumbra Thread.
90-96: Create 2 x [Shadowlace Trousers] with 60 x Shrouded Cloth, 12 x Lightless Silk, and 20 x Penumbra Thread.
96-100: Create 2 x [Shadowlace Mantle] with 50 x Shrouded Cloth, 10 x Lightless Silk, and 20 x Penumbra Thread.

Shadowlands Tailoring Legendary Items

The Legendary Items require a bit more than your regular materials. Lightless Silk is swapped here for Enchanted Lightless Silk and Orboreal Shard will be absolutely needed. One thing that characterizes the Legendaries is their ranks. As a Tailor, you can craft a Legendary Item up to rank 4, but each rank requires more materials.

Here is an example:

Grim-Veiled Hood ¨C Rank 1 ¨C Requires 55 x Shrouded Cloth, 20 x Enchanted Lightless Silk, and 12 x Orboreal Shard.
Grim-Veiled Hood ¨C Rank 2 ¨C Requires 90 x Shrouded Cloth, 30 x Enchanted Lightless Silk, and 18 x Orboreal Shard.
Grim-Veiled Hood ¨C Rank 3 ¨C Requires 140 x Shrouded Cloth, 50 x Enchanted Lightless Silk, and 30 x Orboreal Shard.
Grim-Veiled Hood ¨C Rank 4 ¨C Requires 220 x Shrouded Cloth, 80 x Enchanted Lightless Silk, and 50 x Orboreal Shard.

To increase the rank of a certain Legendary recipe, it requires you to craft that specific recipe multiple times. In other words, you¡¯ll just have to keep crafting the same item until it ranks up. However, the price of each next rank almost doubles the price of the previous one. In our case of [Grim-Veiled Hood], the rank 1 (190 ilvl) costs around 2000 gold on live servers, while rank 4 27 000. So, Legendaries are a must for making gold with Tailoring in WoW Shadowlands!
